The 2023 Hindi-language comedy-drama Danki is based on the practice of "donkey flight," or illegal immigration. Red Chillies Entertainment, Jio Studios, and Rajkumar Hirani Films produced the film, which was directed and edited by Rajkumar Hirani from a script he wrote with Abhith Joshi and Kanika Dhillon. Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal (billed as a special appearance), Taapsee Pannu, and Shah Rukh Khan star in the lead.

In April 2022, the movie was officially announced. Principal photography began in the same month and was interspersed over several legs. Filming took place in Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kashmir, Budapest, London, Jeddah, and Neom and was completed by the end of April 2023. Pritam composed the music for the film, while Aman Pant directed the background score. CK Muralidharan, Manush Nandan, and Amit Roy handled the photography, and director Rajkumar Hirani handled the editing.

Exploring the Plot

A group of friends use a backdoor process to move to another country, then struggle to return home.

2020 sees an elderly Manu Randhawa escape from a London hospital and meet immigration lawyer Puru Patel. He asks her to contact her former flame, Hardayal "Hardy" Singh Dhillon. An elderly Hardy in Laltu, Punjab, is delighted to hear from Manu a quarter of a century later. He cannot get an Indian visa, so he requests that to meet him in Dubai so that he can take her back to India via the Dunki route.

Manu, along with his partners Baggu and Balli, were residing in Laltu in 1995 when they made the decision to relocate to London in pursuit of a better life. Despite trying various methods, these poor and illiterate people are unable to get a visa. Hardy, an ex-army officer, shows up in their community one day. Realizing that Mahinder, Manu's brother, has died in an accident, Manu finds himself and his family in a precarious financial situation. Mahinder saved Manu's life during a battle.
