Plot
Mia and Nico make the decision to leave Spain as a result of a global catastrophe that has led to a shortage of basic supplies and the rise of an oppressive government that is murdering people in an effort to maintain control over dwindling resources. Both the couple's life and the wellbeing of their unborn kid are in danger. Before, as part of a genocidal endeavor to reduce Spain's population by killing youngsters, the elderly, and pregnant women, the military snatched their firstborn daughter, Uma, from them. It is assumed that she is deceased. Mia takes the guilt with her, believing she is to fault for Uma's abduction.Nico has a plan for them to board a cargo ship and sail to Ireland. One of the few nations remaining in Europe, along with Iceland, Russia, and Norway, that has managed to manage the resource problem and preserve a democratic government is Ireland, according to a broadcast. The couple climbs into a truck-borne container. But when Nico is compelled to exit the container and board another, the smugglers split them apart. Everybody in the container is killed by the military at a checkpoint, with the exception of Mia, who was hiding atop a pile of crates. Subsequently, Mia attempts to call Nico to alert him to the danger but is unable to do so.

Mia's container is loaded aboard a ship along with all the others. The containers end up in the ocean due to a later storm. A drill, some tape, and a penknife she had managed to salvage earlier are among the supplies in her container, which is slowly filling with water. Inside are Tupperware household containers, packaged earphones, packaged flatscreen TVs, bottled vodka, and packaged hoodies, all of which she uses to help herself survive. She hears screaming and peeks through a bullet hole to see another container a few meters away that is filled with people and going submerged. Nico calls her after two days in the container to let her know he is in route to save her.
That evening, Mia gives birth to Noa, her daughter, during a storm. Mia, who is extremely weak and has delusions about Uma, decides to eat her placenta in an attempt to fight for their prospects of survival. Mia uses the drill and the penknife to make a hole in the ceiling, and she and Noa climb up onto it as the water level inside the container rises. Mia badly gashes her leg while attempting to draw the notice of an airplane that is passing. She uses bits from the TVs to patch it up and sterilises the wound with vodka. Later on, she succeeds in using a homemade net to catch fish.

After about twenty days, Nico calls Mia to tell her of his bleak health following the shooting and his slim chance of survival. Despite her sadness, Mia tells Nico about their daughter's birth during their last chat. Nico promises to always be with them in spirit and exhorts Mia to keep fighting until they reach Ireland.
When the container sinks, Mia uses the materials to build a homemade raft, which she then floats in the water in the hopes of a miracle. Noa is eventually spotted on the floating raft by a family on a fishing boat. On the other hand, Mia is strapped to the raft by a rope and unconscious. They successfully revive her by bringing her onto their boat and doing CPR.
